HTML stands for: Hyper Text Markup Language.
HTML pages / Web pages / Web documents contain:
Hyper Text: (AKA Hyper link) allows us to navigate between pages or within the same page.
Text: the actual information / content to be displayed on the web page.
Markup: Refers to tags / the control information that format the content of the web page.
HTML tags are used to format the content of the webpage.
Browsers do not display the HTML tags,
Ex: Paired tags have their companion tags opening/starting and closing/ending tags.
Unpaired, singular or stand alone tags.
Markup language: a tag based language understood by Browsers.
Browser: A software for interpreting and displaying HTML files.
